AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Class (3-5 Months) & Puppy II (4 to 8 Months)
6 weeks – 45 minutes - $150 - 6 weeks 60 Minutes $175
Start your puppy off right with proper socialization and skill building foundation games. This class is for puppies ages 3-5 months. Starting puppies early is the best way to obtain a solid foundation onto which all other skills are built.
AKC S.T.A.R Puppy socializes your puppy to different people, dogs, sights, sounds, smells, and experiences to get your puppy ready for the real world. We also work on the foundation building for come and loose leash walking which is a must at this age. We will also discuss with you potty training, bite inhibition, handling, puppy play, dogs greeting other dogs and people properly and more.
Puppy must have the second of the distemper-parvo combo and first bordetella vaccine. Week 6 will have the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Then build those skills with Puppy II Class.
Advanced Manners Class Master's Degree Level and PHD Level (5 weeks $175)
5 weeks - 1 hour - $175
For dogs at least one year of age that have had previous advanced obedience training using positive, motivational methods. Emphasis is on reliability, confidence and rapid responses to commands. Dogs and owners start off-lead work. Dogs learn to be more reliable when faced with distractions; at a greater distance from the owner; and for longer periods of time. This class has little lecture, but rather much of this class is having the owners work with their dogs in more demanding situations.
Practical Obedience 1
8 weeks – 1 hour - $225
This class is based on Practical Obedience for the Real World. This is not competition level obedience. It is Dog Training 101! This class is for dogs ages 6 months and up. We will cover basic cues such as sit, stay, down, come, walking nice, leave it, drop it, off, in a positive and balanced atmosphere, along with how to interact with other dogs and humans. We do this through fun games and then applying that to real world situations.
Only human guardians at the first class, please!
"Shaping Up" Training Skills Class Bachelor's Level
6 Weeks - 1 hour - $150
Class is geared for puppies and dogs graduating from the Basic Obedience Class. It takes the commands learned in that class and "shapes up" both the owner's and the dog's skills with these commands in a fun and exciting environment. Each week, owners learn techniques to help them build their training skills. Also each week, the level of difficulty of various behaviors increases as the dogs are asked to generalize the commands and to respond to commands more quickly, at a greater distance or around more distractions.
Canine Good Citizen
6 weeks – 1 hour - $150
CGC test offered on week 6 by our AKC registered evaluator Tina Lotharius
*Practical Obedience 1 class is a pre-requisite
This course prepares your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The canine good citizen program promotes responsible dog ownership by preparing and evaluating your dog in situations that you may encounter in the real world increasing your dog’s reliability around distractions and building your skills as a handler.
This is the first step towards advanced classes or therapy dog training.
